8. DENMARK
The Kingdom of Denmark participated in the Korean War from January 1951 to July 1953. The Kingdom of Denmark dispatched the hospital ship MS Jutlandia to Korea. In total, the Kingdom of Denmark deployed a crew of 187 as well as 91 doctors and nurses. Jutlandia was the only hospital ship during the war that also treated civilians, at the request of the Danish doctors on board.
In 999 days during her service in Korea, Jutlandia’s hospital cared for 4,981 wounded allied soldiers from 24 different nations and over 6,000 civilian Koreans.
The memorial located in the city of Copenhagen is built with stone from Korea and commemorates the departure location of the MS Jutlandia.
