9. NETHERLANDS
The Kingdom of the Netherlands participated in the Korean War from July 1950 to January 1955. The Regiment van Heutsz is a line infantry regiment of the Royal Netherlands Army that was formed during the Korean War. It was named after Governor-General J.B. van Heutsz who sent an infantry battalion and 3 destroyers to Korea.
In total, the Netherlands deployed 5,322 soldiers and suffered 768 casualties. According to the statistics provided by the South Korean government, there were 120 killed in action, 645 wounded in action, and 3 prisoners of wars.
The memorial in the Netherlands is located near Amsterdam, inside the military compound in Arnhem. Outside the Korean War Museum stands a beautiful obelisk paying tribute to the fallen, their names engraved on the side panels.
