12. FRANCE (Paris)

The French Republic participated in the Korean War from November 1950 to October 1953. The French Battalion demonstrated great bravery at the battle of Chipyongri. President Vincent Auriol sent one artillery battalion and a destroyer.

In total, France deployed 3,421 soldiers and suffered 1,289 casualties. According to the statistics provided by the South Korean government, there were 262 killed in action, 1,008 wounded in action, 7 missing in action, and 12 prisoners of war.

The Korean War Memorial in France is located in Paris along the Seine River near Notre Dame Cathedral. The structure is uniquely shaped in the form of the Korean Peninsula.
